Haretage
I taught myself a little Cyrillic, flew to Bulgaria, and found cousins I had only known by letter. My great-grandfather grew grapes there. To honour both sides of the family, we bring Bulgarian Cabernet Sauvignon together with our Niagara-on-the-Lake fruit and call it "Haretage", a little play on the name. The three women on the back label are my grandfather's nieces (my cousins, once removed) that I met on that first trip. Of everything we make, it is our Haretage wine I am most proud of.
